Sailor Profit Junior Satellite Crayon Series Fountain Pen Set - Syvash CT

The Sailor Profit Junior Syvash fountain pen set is part of Sailor's Satellite Crayon Series, a run of playful, colourful Profit Junior pens from one of Japan's most respected pen makers. Syvash is the pink edition: a soft, cheerful resin body with bright chrome trim, and a Japanese steel nib that writes far better than its friendly price suggests. If you've been looking for an affordable Japanese fountain pen that still feels like the real thing, this is a lovely place to start.

A Japanese fountain pen made for everyday writing

Sailor has been making pens in Japan since 1911, and the Profit Junior borrows the classic cigar-shaped silhouette of Sailor's famous 1911 line in a lighter, simpler form. At just 12g, 134mm long capped and 12mm across, it's slim and easy on the hand, so it suits students, journaling, planners and long note-taking sessions. Post the cap on the back and it stretches to 144mm for anyone who likes a slightly longer pen.

The screw cap threads on securely, which means the pen won't dry out quickly and is safe to carry in a bag or pen case.

The Medium Fine nib: why it matters

This set comes with Sailor's Medium Fine steel nib. Japanese nib sizes run finer than European ones, so a Japanese Medium Fine sits roughly between a European Extra Fine and Fine. That makes it ideal for small handwriting, Indian notebooks with narrow ruling, annotating textbooks, and writing on thinner paper without too much show-through. Sailor nibs are known for a pleasant, pencil-like feedback: you feel the paper a little, which gives you more control.

Easy to fill: cartridge and converter both included

Sailor includes both a cartridge and a converter, so you can choose how you fill it. Use the cartridge for zero-mess convenience, or fit the converter (about 0.62ml capacity) and draw up any bottled fountain pen ink you like, from classic blue-black to soft pinks that match the barrel. Note that Sailor pens use Sailor's own cartridge fitting, so choose Sailor cartridges when you restock.
